Burglar Responsible for Six Break-Ins Arrested After Pursuit

October 20, 2016 09:52 AM

On October 18, 2016, at about 2:15 am, patrol officers noticed a vehicle parked in the alley behind Tony’s Deli (1124 W. Magnolia Blvd).  The officers drove closer to investigate.  As they got closer, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

A vehicle pursuit ensued.  However, due to the suspect vehicle’s speed and it traveling through red signals and stop signs without stopping, or even slowing, the pursuing officers were unable to stay with the car and the pursuit was terminated.  Additional officers checked the area and ultimately located the vehicle parked on Orange Grove Terrace in the hill area, above Sunset Canyon Drive.

The officers took one male, later identified as 18 year-old Keon Clarke from Compton, into custody.  Two other males fled on foot and were not located.

Simultaneously, officers responded to a burglary alarm activation at Tony’s Deli.  The responding officers found the front door glass was shattered and the safe tampered with, but no actual loss of property.

Officers later learned there were two other business burglaries shortly before the pursuit that occurred at San Marco Coffee, 401 N. Glenoaks Blvd., and Papa John’s, 904 S. Glenoaks Blvd.

Burbank Police investigators recognized the suspect vehicle description of a car used in three additional burglaries last week.  Stolen property from these incidents included an undisclosed amount of cash.

The additional business burglaries were at the following businesses:

4017 Riverside Dr. (Gindi Thai Restaurant)   Occurred 10/9/16 @ about 5:15 am

3801 W. Magnolia Blvd. (Store2Door Liquor Deli Market) Occurred 10/9/16 @ about 4:00 am

3711 W. Magnolia Blvd (Century Dragon Chinese Restaurant) Occurred 10/9/16 in the morning hours

Investigators spoke with Clarke and he confessed to all six burglaries.  The Burbank Police Department is working to identify and locate the outstanding suspects in this case.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reviewed and filed six counts of commercial burglary and one count of felony evading against Clarke.
