Burbank Police Join 7-Eleven in "Operation Chill" Free Slurpee Program

June 14, 2017 07:37 AM

Operation_ChillFor the 22nd year in a row, 7-Eleven Stores are teaming up with local law enforcement for the “Operation Chill” community service program. The Burbank Police are once again supporting and participating in “Operation Chill,” which focuses on reducing crime, promoting safety, and enhancing relations between the youth, police and 7-Eleven Stores.

Throughout summer, Burbank Police Officers will be providing coupons for a free 7-Eleven Slurpee to children in our community. These coupons will be awarded to kids who are observed displaying good behavior, found making good choices, doing good deeds, and those who are abiding by the law. Examples might include a young bike rider wearing their helmet, or kids participating in community events, picking up litter, and even helping to deter and prevent crime.

“These coupons serve as an icebreaker to help establish rapport between police officers and the youngest members of our community,” said Sergeant Derek Green of the Burbank Police Department. “They also provide an incentive to kids for good behavior and making good choices.  It’s great to reward them with free Slurpees and see the smiles on their faces.”

Since its inception, more than 19 million free Slurpee coupons have been distributed to local police departments for “Operation Chill.” The Burbank Police have participated in the program many times and hope to distribute all of their coupons over summer.
