Police Awarded Traffic Safety Grant For Anti-Drunk Driving Campaign

Burbank Police Department has been awarded a new traffic safety grant for an anti-DUI program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on Burbank roadways. Enforcement measures to combat impaired driving are coming as a result of a recent $32,400 grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety to Burbank. The Burbank Police Department is dedicated to keeping our streets safe through both enforcement and education.

Recently, during the late morning and early afternoon hours, there have been a few attempted residential burglaries in the area.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT

The problem of catalytic converter theft is on the rise again. We are advising residents to be aware that thieves target vehicles to steal catalytic converters for the value of recycling the precious metals within the catalytic converter. We would like to put some of our crime-fighting expertise to work for you. Below is some information to give you a brief overview of catalytic converter theft and how your proactive vigilance can deter you from becoming a victim.

 

Burbank Police Receive National Award

On Tuesday, October 22nd, the Burbank Police Department Communications Center became only the second law enforcement agency in the State of California to receive certification from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The certification process included training and policy revisions meeting the best practice standards established by NCMEC. The certification has better prepared our dispatchers to handle these critical cases.

DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT

On October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Burbank Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its seventh opportunity in three years to prevent medication abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

STOLEN URN FOUND & RETURNED TO FAMILY

On Monday, September 30, 2013, a gardener found an urn in some bushes outside an apartment building in the 800 block of South Sixth Street, in Burbank. The same day, in Glendale, a family reported to the Glendale Police Department that their vehicle had been broken into and one of the items stolen was an urn.
