Police Arrest Mother For 2005 Abduction

In 2005, Gabriela Barrett abducted her then 3-year-old daughter and fled to Mexico to protect her from her allegedly verbally abusive father. Burbank Police has had an open investigation since this occurred in 2005.

National Night Out Against Crime

The first National Night Out took place on Tuesday, August 7th 1984. That first year, 2.5 million Americans took part across 400 communities in 23 states. National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

 

Pedestrian Struck and Killed Crossing Olive Avenue

On Sunday July 28, 2013 at 10:02 p.m., Burbank Police officers responded to the 2600 block of Olive Avenue, regarding a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. Fire Department personnel began life saving efforts and transported the victim to Holy Cross, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Police Launch Contemporary Website

The Burbank Police Department is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, www.Burbankpd.org. The website project is the culmination of almost two years of development, in an effort to provide the community with greater access to the police department.

 

Overall Crime Rate Drops By 5 Percent

Police Chief Scott LaChasse reported an overall five percent drop year-to-date in Part One crimes, which include robbery, rape, aggravated assault, burglary, and auto theft. Chief LaChasse credits the positive downward trend and significant accomplishments to the department’s committed and industrious workforce and cadre of volunteers.

Traffic Reduction

It is the goal of the Burbank Police Department to reduce the number of traffic collisions in 2013. To that end, the Burbank Police Department has initiated a traffic collision reduction plan. The objective is to combine enforcement efforts with education to make motorists aware of some of the most common causes of traffic collisions, and thereby reduce the number of collisions.

 

Burbank Animal Shelter Receives ASPCA Grant

June 19, 2013 - The BAS has received a $6,500 grant for the purchase of a pet identification tag engraving machine, ID tags and collars for newly-adopted pets.All dogs and cats adopted from the Burbank Animal Shelter (BAS) will soon be leaving with collars and a personalized pet identification tag thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).​
