PHONE SCAMS

In this video, Burbank Police Sergeant Green discusses three of the most common phone scams we've seen lately:

1. The Burbank Water & Power bill collector scam
2. A kidnapping / ransom money scam
3. An I.R.S. / tax collection scam

The Burbank Police want to remind you NEVER to send money to anyone you don't know. If you are ever unsure as to the validity of a phone call, please call the police and ask.

HIDE IT, LOCK IT, KEEP IT!

The Burbank Police Department continues to urge our community to protect their personal belongings from thieves.  There are numerous schemes, scams and outright criminal opportunists out there who are ready and willing to take your hard earned property.  However, there are ways to help protect yourself from all of them.

In the case of thefts from motor vehicles, the prevention is simple.  Hide It, Lock It, Keep It!  Meaning, hide or (preferably) remove valuables from your car and lock your car, making it more likely you’ll keep your property.  Twenty-five percent of thefts from vehicles in Burbank during 2015 were from unlocked cars!
