A Wild Ride with a Good Outcome!

On May 23, 2023, at about 12:30 am., Burbank Police officers responded to the area of Riverside Drive and Mariposa Street regarding a loose horse.   A concerned citizen said she saw a riderless horse running “frantically” down the street with a saddle leading her to believe a rider may have fallen off and was hurt. 

When the officers arrived, they located the horse grazing on the grass in front of a residence.  The horse had a saddle, but no bridle attached.  Burbank Police Officer Nicholas Moreno grew up around horses and calmly mounted the animal.   

Another responding officer found the owner of the horse at the Mariposa Bridge, located at Valley Heart Drive and Mariposa Street.  The owner said his horse, Oreo, got spooked after the ride and took off.

Officer Moreno rode Oreo back to the owner where the two were happily reunited.
