Media Relations
The Burbank Police Department strives to foster a positive working relationship with all outlets of media including but not limited to news, print and online media organizations. The unit is comprised of a Lieutenant, one Sergeant, and one Police Officer.
The Sergeant is designated as the Department's Public Information Officer (PIO), whose responsibilities include responding to media requests from local, national, and international media outlets, issuing news releases, crime alerts, and community bulletins. In addition, the PIO monitors news stories to ensure accuracy in reporting events that occur in Burbank. The PIO works closely with the Investigations Bureau in the release of timely information as it relates to significant incidents within the city.
The PIO and Community Resource Officer are also tasked with keeping the Department current in the social media network, monitoring all social media outlets, providing training to our personnel, training to media personnel on police operations, and communicating with the Burbank Police Command Staff and city executives.
All media inquiries should be directed to the Public Information Officer, Sergeant Stephen Turner, at STurner@burbankca.gov or 818.238.3240.
