Captain Ed Ruiz

Eddie Ruiz began his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles School Police Department in 1997. In 1998, he was hired by the Burbank Police Department and assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2005 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and worked assignments in the Gang Detail, Patrol Division, Support Services Division and the Internal Affairs Bureau. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and worked assignments in the Patrol Division, Community Outreach and Personnel Services Bureau (COPS), Professional Standards Bureau, Internal Affairs Bureau and the Investigation Division.

In 2023, Eddie was promoted to the rank of Captain and is currently the Commanding Officer of the Support Services Division.

Captain Ruiz pursued his studies at the University of Southern California, attaining Bachelor's degrees in both Political Science and International Relations. Additionally, he achieved a Master's degree in Public Administration. Eddie is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute and Leadership Burbank. He has also contributed to the community as a member of the Burbank Domestic Violence Task Force.

Beyond his professional achievements, Eddie is a dedicated spouse and father, finding joy in the company of his loved ones. During his leisure moments, he enjoys reading and cherishing quality time with his family and friends.
