Captain Ron Caruso

Captain Ron Caruso started his career with the Burbank Police Department in 1981 as a Police Cadet.  Over the last 31 years he has held assignments throughout the Department while promoting through the ranks.  He was promoted to Captain of the Support Services Division in 2011.  In July, 2015, Captain Caruso assumed command of the Investigations Division. 

Captain Caruso's assignments have included the Patrol Division, the Traffic Bureau, the Air Support Unit, the Gang Detail, Investigations, the Internal Affairs Bureau and Manual/Orders.  Captain Ron Caruso served on the SWAT team as a collateral duty for fifteen years.  He has contributed to the last three Strategic Plans of the Department.

He has a long history in the Burbank community including graduating from Burbank High School and the Leadership Burbank program.  Captain Caruso has a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University at Long Beach and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University at Northridge.  He is a previous recipient of the Rex Andrews Police Scholar award.  He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, POST Command College, and the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia.  Captain Caruso has medaled many times at the Western States Police/Fire Games in track and field events.  He has also been a member of the Department’s Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay Team for approximately 20 years.
