Ongoing Investigation at Burger King
June 19, 2018 01:52 PM
This morning, at about 11:03 A.M., Burbank Police received a 911 call from Burger King, located at 545 N. Victory Blvd., regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in-progress. When police officers arrived, they discovered two adult men suffering from stab wounds inside the restaurant.
Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The investigation thus far has shown that an elderly man was seated inside the restaurant with two acquaintances. For unknown reasons, a male suspect entered the restaurant armed with a knife and began stabbing the victim. As the suspect stabbed the victim, another patron inside the restaurant intervened and became engaged in a struggle with the suspect. During this struggle, the suspect sustained several knife wounds.
The suspect has been transported to a local hospital with significant, life-threatening injuries.
The victim survived the attack and suffered injuries which, at this time, are not considered life-threatening. He was also transported to a hospital.
The patron who intervened was not transported to a hospital.
This attack appears to be completely random and unprovoked.
Witnesses to the assault described the suspect as possibly homeless, although his identity has not yet been confirmed.
The investigation at Burger King is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Burbank Police Department Investigations Division, at (818) 238-3210.
