SOCIAL MEDIA THREATS

This evening, at approximately 7:42 p.m. the Burbank Police Department was made aware of threats made by a student, via Twitter, who attends John Burroughs High School. Burbank Police Officers immediately conducted a follow up investigation and contacted the individual at his residence in Burbank. The individual and his family were cooperative during the investigation.

 

RAPPER "TOO SHORT" ARRESTED AT THE BURBANK AIRPORT

On October 1, 2014 at about 145pm, Todd Anthony Shaw, more widely known as the rapper “Too Short,” was in the process of passing through a checkpoint at the Burbank Airport when a TSA Employee noticed a carryon bag passing through the scanner that contained a handgun. Mr. Shaw left the concourse without his belongings, via an exit door, before he could be detained.

The Burbank Police Department would like to warn the Burbank community about new phone scams that have been occurring in surrounding communities in which victims are being scammed out of money, and receiving threatening messages.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER MULTIPLE COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

This morning, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Burbank Police Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of N. Glenoaks Boulevard regarding a suspicious circumstances investigation. BPD Dispatch received a call from a community member reporting the sound of a window being smashed. Shortly thereafter, the business’ burglar alarm was activated. Officers arrived at the location and confirmed the business had been burglarized.

DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT 09-27-14

On September 27, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Burbank Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 9th opportunity in three years to prevent medication abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

 

FATAL TAFFIC COLLISION INVOLVING METROLINK

On September 2, 2014, at approximately 1517 hours, officers responded to the area of Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Boulevard regarding a single vehicle collision with a Metrolink commuter train that was traveling southbound. Initial reports indicate a grey Toyota Camry, traveling southbound on Buena Vista Street, attempted to circumvent the activated railroad crossing arms when the vehicle was struck by the train.
