Sobriety Checkpoint Planned For June 7, 2014 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The Burbank Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, June 7, 2014, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 a. m. This operation will involve members of the Burbank Police Department’s Traffic, Patrol, and Reserve Officers. A grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, funds this checkpoint.

 

Burbank Animal Shelter Competing In National ASPCA Grant Competition

Beginning June 1st, the Burbank Animal Shelter (BAS) will be 1 of 50 animal shelters nationwide to participate in the 5th and final ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. The Burbank Animal Shelter is competing for a chance at more than $600,000 in grant funding, including a grand prize of $100,000.

 

Burbank Police Department’s 2014 Citizen Survey

As part of its commitment to provide the best possible service to our community, the Burbank Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in helping us assess our services by completing a brief survey. The survey will help identify areas for improvement and will allow us to plan the police department’s future community policing efforts. BICYCLE REGISTRATION EVENT 05-17-14

The Burbank Police Department will be hosting the Bicycle Registration Event, When: Saturday, May 17, 2014 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Where: Chandler Bike Path (between Keystone & Brighton) ​

 

Police/Fire Service Day, Saturday, May 10, 2014, 9-2 pm

Come join the police and fire department staff and volunteers this Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 9 am to 2 pm. There will be presentations from various units of the police department. The Air Support unit will have their helicopter here for the kids to sit in and view all of the instruments used to assist them in supporting the patrol force. In addition, the Mounted Unit, Traffic Unit, K-9, SWAT vehicles, Reserves, and Community Outreach.

 

US Department of Justice Declines Filing Charges In Police Department Investigation

The Burbank Police Department has been notified that the FBI has concluded the multi-year investigation that arose from the robbery investigation of Portos bakery in late 2007.

Residents Enjoy Coffee WIth A Cop Event

On April 22, 2014, The Burbank Police Department COPS Bureau hosted their first Coffee with a Cop event. Coffee with a Cop is a community based policing program that is designed to establish relationships and trust between the community and the police. Priscilla’s Gourmet Coffee, located at 4150 Riverside Drive, was the first coffee house in Burbank where police officers and members of the community came together to ask questions, address concerns, and drink coffee.

 

Another Successful Tip-A-Cop Event

The Burbank Police Department would like to thank the community for attending the “Tip-A-Cop” event, held at the Claim Jumper Restaurant on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Burbank Police Officers, Cadets, and Explorers were in uniform and assisted the staff at the restaurant in serving food and waiting on tables. Through the “Tips” collected they were able to raise approximately $2,500.00 for Special Olympics.
