US Department of Justice Declines Filing Charges In Police Department Investigation

The Burbank Police Department has been notified that the FBI has concluded the multi-year investigation that arose from the robbery investigation of Portos bakery in late 2007.

Residents Enjoy Coffee WIth A Cop Event

On April 22, 2014, The Burbank Police Department COPS Bureau hosted their first Coffee with a Cop event. Coffee with a Cop is a community based policing program that is designed to establish relationships and trust between the community and the police. Priscilla’s Gourmet Coffee, located at 4150 Riverside Drive, was the first coffee house in Burbank where police officers and members of the community came together to ask questions, address concerns, and drink coffee.

 

Another Successful Tip-A-Cop Event

The Burbank Police Department would like to thank the community for attending the “Tip-A-Cop” event, held at the Claim Jumper Restaurant on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Burbank Police Officers, Cadets, and Explorers were in uniform and assisted the staff at the restaurant in serving food and waiting on tables. Through the “Tips” collected they were able to raise approximately $2,500.00 for Special Olympics.

 

JBHS Threats

On April 16, 2014 at approximately 7:45 PM, a teacher from John Burroughs High School came into the Burbank Police Department to report her concern over comments made by a 15 year old student earlier in the day during one her classes. The student apparently was upset over being disciplined and made some comments regarding people dying the following day.

DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT @ BPD - SATURDAY, APRIL 26 FROM 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M.

On April 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Burbank Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its eighth opportunity in three years to prevent medication abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

 

Police Search For Shooting Suspect

On March 24, 2014, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Burbank Police Communications Center received several 911 calls regarding several gunshots heard, with a subsequent vehicle crash in the area of Alameda Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard. Officers arrived a short time later and located a red SUV with major collision damage and multiple bullet holes in the right rear area. The vehicle was abandoned and a crime scene was established.

 

Confirmed Case of Flea-Borne Typhus Fever

Recently, Vector Control of Los Angeles County confirmed a case of flea-borne typhus in Burbank. The case is the first reported one for 2014. The Burbank Animal Shelter is working with the Los Angeles County Vector Control to inform our residents with educational pamphlets and additional information on safety precautions. Endemic Typhus Fever (aka: Murine typhus or Flea-borne typhus) is a disease caused by a bacteria known as Rickettsia.

 

TIP A COP EVENT @ CLAIM JUMPER - APRIL 17, 2014 5:00 - 9:00 P.M.

Personnel from the Burbank Police Department are taking part in the annual “Tip a Cop” event at the Claim Jumper restaurant in Burbank on April 17, 2014, from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Police Officers in uniform will be on hand to assist the staff at the restaurant in serving food and waiting on tables.

 

Suspect Identified and Arrested For Stabbing Two Victims

Investigators identifed a suspect in this stabbing and he was arrested late Saturday evening. Both victims will survive On Saturday, March 15, 2014, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Burbank Police Department Communications received a 911 call regarding a stabbing that occurred in the 1000 block of East Angeleno Avenue. Officers and fire department paramedic personnel arrived and located two male adult victims, both in their early 20’s, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
