Invest in a quality tailgate lock to prevent its theft

The Burbank Police Department has gathered information on a growing crime trend regarding the theft of tailgates from pick-up trucks. If the tailgate does not have a locking bed cover or tailgate lock, suspects can easily access the tailgate and remove it within a few seconds.

 

Safety Tips For Children While Walking To School

There have been several reports in the surrounding communities of strangers grabbing young children while they are walking to and from school. In an effort to keep children safe in our community, the Burbank Police Department, in conjunction with the Burbank Unified School District, is providing the following "Stranger Danger” Safety Tips. Discuss these tips and have a safety plan in place with your children.

Murder Charge Filed In Suspicious Death

On January 20, 2014 at 10:41 a.m., Burbank Communications Center received a call of a person possibly sleeping in the south alley of the 4000 block of West Victory Boulevard. On arrival, officers discovered a 77 year-old female deceased.

Animal Shelter Receives Petco Grant

The Burbank Animal Shelter has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Petco Foundation through the Holiday Wishes Grant Campaign. The Petco Foundation grant will be used to enhance the quality of life of shelter animals by providing needed medications, veterinary care, surgical equipment, and facility enhancements to improve operations.

A Successful Bicycle Registration Event Saturday

On Saturday, January 11, 2014, the Burbank Police Department conducted its first Bicycle Registration Event on the Chandler Bike Path from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the course of the event, over 300 bicycles were registered by community members of all ages. The Burbank Police Department is establishing a database which will help return bicycles to their owners in the event they are ever lost or stolen.

 

Mountain Lion Sighting In Burbank

On January 3, 2014, a mountain lion was spotted at a residence on Hamline Place. This communication is intended to alert the community of the sighting and to provide precautions to keep residents and their pets safe.

The Burbank Police Department conducts community academies in English, Spanish, Armenian, and for the deaf/hard of hearing throughout the year for those who live or work in the City of Burbank. These academies are a terrific opportunity for the Burbank Police Department to reach out to its diverse community and allow individuals to get a behind-the-scenes look at the personnel and operations of the Department.

Nationwide, thousands of stolen or lost bicycles are recovered, but many are never returned to their owners. Unfortunately, the BPD is a part of that statistic. To help lower the national and local numbers, the BPD is establishing a database which will help us return bicycles to their owners in the event they are ever lost or stolen.
