Protecting Your Personal Information with Secure Passwords

From email and banking to social media and mobile apps, the average person has a long list of passwords. While keeping track of numerous account logins can be tedious, there could be serious implications if a cybercriminal gains access to your email, financial information, social security number, or even your medical records. Passwords are the most common means of authentication online, and that is why it is critical to use strong passwords and keep them confidential.

 

STOLEN URN FOUND & RETURNED TO FAMILY

On Monday, September 30, 2013, a gardener found an urn in some bushes outside an apartment building in the 800 block of South Sixth Street, in Burbank. The same day, in Glendale, a family reported to the Glendale Police Department that their vehicle had been broken into and one of the items stolen was an urn.

 

Burbank Police Commission to Hold Community Forum

The Burbank Police Commissioners and the Police Administrative Staff invite you to join them for a community forum. The forum will be held on October 16, 2013, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Luther Burbank Middle School Auditorium at 3700 West Jeffries Avenue.

 

Multiple Fatality Auto Accident

On Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 4:13 a.m., Burbank Police received a call regarding a single vehicle accident on San Fernando Boulevard near the Scott Road off-ramp of the Golden State Freeway. On arrival, officers observed a Nissan sedan fully engulfed in flames against the freeway abutment. In addition, there was a small grass fire associated with the crash. An 18-year old female passenger, who escaped the burning vehicle, was transported to LA County Medical Center.

Tip A Cop Event October 15, 2013

Personnel from the Burbank Police Department are taking part in the annual “Tip a Cop” event at the Black Angus restaurant in Burbank on October 15, 2013. Police Officers in uniform will be on hand to assist the staff at the restaurant in serving food and waiting on tables.

 

Business Alert-ADA issues

It has come to the Police Department’s attention that individuals alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) have approached several Burbank businesses. A lawyer subsequently contacts the business to discuss settlement in-lieu of pursuing a civil case in court against the business.​

 

Motor Officers Achieve Honors In Recent Competition

On September 18, 2013, four members from the Burbank Police Department Motor Squad competed in the Orange County Traffic Officers Association’s “Top Gun” Motor Rodeo. This skill program draws approximately 250 motor officers from law enforcement agencies throughout California. Competitors were challenged with fast and slow timed cone patterns and the "top gun" finale, an elimination round competition.

Safety Tips Provided After Mountain Lion Sighting In Burbank Residential Area

On September 18, 2013, a mountain lion was observed in the 3300 block of Wedgewood. The mountain lion was observed running away from the area when the police arrived. This communication is intended to alert the community of the incident and to provide precautions to keep residents and their pets safe.​

 

Uptick In Thefts From Motor Vehicles

Recently, there were eight (8) reported auto burglaries of vehicles parked at six (6) different places of worship in the city. While services were taking place, the suspect(s) smashed windows of the vehicles and removed property. In the past week, seven vehicles from four separate businesses had their batteries stolen. The thefts occurred after-hours during the weekend when the businesses were closed.
